White Mountain Panorama

California's White Mountain, elevation 14,252', offers a truly unique perspective of the High Sierra, allowing you to see essentially the whole of the range in one great sweep.

In addition to Sierra looks you also get a wonderful view of Owens Valley to the west and Nevada's Fish Lake Valley to the east. This is certainly one of the more striking panoramas in the state. Enjoy!

Great view! I've actually been to the top of that one with my Dad. Relatively simply hike. The view from the summit is awe inspiring. I can recognize/name many of the peaks in the frame, having grown up in Bishop. The July day my Dad and I were up there, it was 108 degrees in Bishop, but 41 on the summit due to cloud cover. Quite a difference. We watched a golden eagle swoop down and grab a marmot while we were hiking ... poor little critter didn't know what hit him.

If the snow was ever decent enough, skiing that northwest slope (from about 2:45 - 2:50 in the vid) down into Chalfant Valley would be awesome ... However, winter winds tend to scour that face completely clean.
