Review: VholdR ContourHD Helmet Cam
Some of you have been asking about the helmet cam I used on my climb up Whitney’s East Face. The answer is it was the creatively-capitalized VholdR ContourHD.
I’ll be honest: trying to cope with the ContourHD’s various quirks has driven me batty these past weeks, but the end result is pov climbing footage that I otherwise never would have gotten.
My bottom line on the ContourHD is that it’s a potent, if frustrating little tool capable of capturing jaw-dropping shots. Plus, for an HD-capable camera (1280×720 resolution), it’s cheap. Until Sony, Canon, or Nikon steps in, this is probably the helmet cam to beat. For the full scoop, see my VholdR ContourHD Helmet Camcorder Review.

I’m surprised to see no mention of the Station fire ravaging our backyard at the moment. The San Gabriels are going to look substantially different this year!

Yeah, been kind of lagging on the news coverage. It’s been hot and smoky, and I haven’t been out with my camera lately. Sorry about that.
