Platypus CleanStream Gravity Filter
Here’s my review of Platypus’ Cleanstream Gravity Filter: as soon as I see the word “backflush” appear in the instruction manual, I’m out.
Okay, maybe that’s not entirely fair. But memories of MSR’s Hyperflow Microfilter, with its mandatory but inscrutable backflushing requirement, still haunt me. Yes, the Platypus Cleanstream does require (or at least strongly advise) backflushing before each and every use (more…)

I’ve been had? I was reading this thinking it was a good review from trustworthy Andy, the come to the bottom to see it is a paid add from Tahoe Mountain Sports. Please explain?

Well, if they were paying me to review gear, they would probably want a better return on their investment.
TMS loaned the gear to me for a few weeks to try out. Sadly, they wanted it all back when I was done. -

Ah ha! It all comes so clearly now. I interpreted ‘review sample’ to be a sample review made by TMS, posted on your website. I was assuming it was their thoughts on the Platypus, not yours. Sorry for being clueless.
