Hydration Index

For water treatment, I overwhelmingly prefer SteriPen's Adventurer, which uses UV light to zap microbes and viruses. If you insist on carrying a microfilter, MSR's Hyperflow is the lightest, but the Katadyn Hiker is much easier to use. For containers, stick with Nalgene's HDPE bottle, or try the stainless steel Klean Kanteen. Nalgene's Tritan bottles are similar to the discontinued Lexan models, but BPA-free.
