La Sportiva's snazzy trail-running trainer, the Electron, has become one of my footwear favorites—though perhaps not exactly in the way Sportiva intended. The Electron offers an intriguing blend of lightness and support. The girlfriend and I both use LaSportiva's Crosslites as approach shoes... Same shoe, I think, as the electron just with a mesh upper instead of leather. They work great on talus and, believe it or not, snow. Used them on the Glacier Canyon approach and egress to Dana Coulior last weekend. No complaints even with the weight of skis and boots on the back!
